Welcome to Youth For Nepal, a 501(c)3 registered non-profit organization that aims to engage young adults and encourage social entrepreneurship in the fields of education, environment and health.

We have decided to conclude our operations and dissolve the Youth for Nepal organization. The board took this decision unanimously at the end of 2016.

Youth for Nepal began operations in April 2007. As a small non-profit, our goal was to channel our collective (ours and yours) resources to contribute to grassroots movement in areas of health, education, and environment. In the past ten years we have renovated several schools, established libraries and computer literacy programs, conducted health camps, and supported social initiatives led by the young. These years have been incredibly fruitful and fulfilling - in terms of the quality of projects we have completed as well as the people we have had a chance to work and collaborate with.

Thus, the decision to dissolve at this time was not an easy one. However, we took this course as it had been increasingly clear to us that we faced significant resource and personnel constraints for scaling up. Resources wise, despite narrowing our focus to education-related projects recently, we did not reach a stage of being specialized in one area so that we could scale up our model by raising big-ticket grant funding. On the personnel side, as a purely volunteer-based organization, our core team was severely limited by professional responsibilities. And finally, as the team matured, we also realized that the members can contribute much more effectively in their own area of expertise.

We are currently working on the legal process for an orderly dissolution and will use our remaining funds to upgrade projects that we had previously completed. We will share the details on our website, which will also serve as an archive. Even though we conclude our operations, you will be able to follow, through our partners’ platforms, how the projects have fared and we hope you continue to support them. In closing, we sincerely thank you for your support and guidance all these years. It’s been a privilege to be able to give back to the society that, in so many ways, shaped who we are today.

Gratefully yours,
The YFN Team

More about YFN

We encourage young adults, especially college and high school students, to come up with projects they would like to work on individually or as a team. If approved, we fund these projects and assist with their administration, at the same time, with the expectation that these young adults will own and be responsible for their own projects.

If you or your friends have project(s) that you want to work on, come tell us and we'll work together to make it happen.
